Sergio Davila showed his newest collection at PeruMODA, which is one of Latin America’s biggest fashion trade fairs and also hosts several fashion shows too.

Having been noted as the “new Narcisso Rodriguez”, the talented Sergio Davila considers his styles to be “for men from the three Americas: South, North and Central.” He often shows his lines at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York, but is a Peru native who chose to head back to his roots to show his latest and greatest collection in Lima.

His Fall/Winter 2014/15 collection featured some of the hottest current trends for menswear like cuffed pants, and pairing suits and tailored clothing with gym shoes. Models walked the runways with pastel suits paired with brightly colored Nikes.

Trench coats were a popular style as well in the Sergio Davila collection, paired with both pants and shorts. Plaid and a spattering of knitwear were also shown. The looks were casual, fresh and light.

BDMOTP favorite: pastel blue and green suits.

This Ephymol collection was designed by model-turned-designer  Ephraim Molingoane. The line features suits and dressy outfits in luxury fabric and print colors.

The silhouettes of the suits take us back to the 70’s with a retro vibe. The patterns and colors are strong and bold and give the collection a summery, resort feel. The suits still stay modern, despite their bright blue and teal colors, due to urban cuts.

The Ephymol line is for a bold gentlemen, someone with sass and style that is ready to walk out into the world with confidence.

BDMOTP favorite: tangerine jacket paired with bright blue pants

The JD by Shaldon Kopman collection is designed by you guessed it: designer Shaldon Kopman. This authentic South African collection is casual, bright and effortless.

Shaldon Kopman used colorblocking and bold colors to make his point in this collection. It’s perfect for a summer weekend, and it’s bright colors are fun and playful. The warmth of the reds and the brightness of the blues is definitely in accordance with the the bold and fashion forward South African trends.

Models sported cool oxford colorful wing type casual shoes with all the outfits. Colorful hats and cotton cloth bags accessorized the collection. Military style jackets and three quarter sleeved shirts are frequent silhouettes used in the line. Mixing red and orange, which is usually taboo, somehow works here.

BDMOTP favorite: the interesting and original “hoodie” blazer, mixing both dressy and causal styles.

Another huge trend we’ve been seeing on the AW 14/15 runways not just in Toronto, but really all over the world is fur. Fur is making a huge comeback for both men and women alike, and if you aren’t into real fur-no problem-in some cases faux fur can absolutely do the trick.

The Farley Chatto brand invested 100% in this trend for their show at Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week, as colored fur was everywhere in this fun and formal collection. The checkerboard grey jacket paired with red pants and a fur stole was very dramatic, as was the dyed bluish fur coat.

I always look forward to seeing the Resurrection show at Seoul Fashion Week. It never ceases to impress with it’s urban vibes and chic looks. They seem to endlessly come forward with new and fresh and ideas using the color black and leather-it never gets old.

This season, they modernized their looks by using not only their (rather signature) leather but also neoprene, sequins and fur. Models strutted the runway with spikey hair and fierce glares. One of the things I like about the line is that they use a lot of black and use it well. However, this season I loved their incorporation of dark blue into the line, especially the coats.

In fact, let’s talk about their coats. Every length, silhouette and fabric that exists is featured in a coat here, they have something for everyone. Well done, Resurrection. Any man wanting to look fresh and cool next fall will be walking the city streets in a Resurrection coat.

BDMOTP favorites: Long blue coat with black detailing, grey medium length coat with belt.

Sexy and daring describes the AW 14/15 Mackage collection.  Jackets were the name of the game this season. The woolen pink and black leather jacket was a total standout. Motorcycle jackets with fleece pants, black leather with black velvet pants, and camo black jacket with leather pants were very dramatic. Not only were the jackets fashionable, but they also looked warm and wearable as well, which is outstanding feat to achieve in my opinion! The plaid suit was also right on point for next fall.

The RE-D show at Seoul Fashion Week had some real flavor to it. It’s always nice to see the models having a good time and enjoying what they are wearing. Models danced and rapped their way down the runway in casual, funky looks that were mostly all black. It’s very popular in Asia to wear a lot of layers, and I often see in runway shows there that look with several different styles and types of layers.

The RE-d collection , right on trend of course, was filled with layers, which kept the looks youthful and funky. Beanie hats, leather details and sunglasses also added an edge of coolness to the collection.

As there were so many menswear shows, we wanted to include a little bit of all the great fashion we saw. Today’s highlights include fur and leather from Krane, denim from Triarchy Equine Apothecary and a little rock n’ roll from Rudsak.

Krane used fur and leather to the max in their AW 14/15 collection. Combinations included brown leather with black fur and full length navy coat with fur collars.

Triarchy Equine Apothecary used denim as the focus of their show with an emphasis on equestrian design. Baggy pants were shown in both leather and in denim.

Rudsak, celebrating its 20th anniversary, had a strong rock n’ roll energy to the collection. Leather paired with fur, metallic leather jacket and pants wowed audience members.

The LEIGH show at Seoul Fashion Week also featured a lot of outerwear, mainly coats. LEIGH incorporate trends like heathered grey, plaid, leather and accessorized with warm and bulky scarves. The line had a kind of sleek feeling to it, perhaps it was the influence of the leather. Baggy pants were paired with tighter motorcycle jackets for the perfect combination of tailored yet hip. Black was also used as a main color throughout the collection.

The showstopper LEIGH piece was a copper shimmery jacket paired with tailored baggy pants and loafers. Could most guys pull it off? Probably not…but the few that could will look very funky!

There were actually several menswear collections at Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week, which was exciting. It was impossible to catch everything, but we were able to pick out some highlights and trends from several of the shows. Trending for fall in Toronto…plaid, oversize, military style, and urban prep.

Thomas Bálint featured oversize and boxy shapes. The use of linen for fall/winter was a refreshing choice in fabric.

Klaxon Howl boasted three -piece suits with fitted vests. “Men at work” was the theme reflected here with camo pants, marine jackets, and dotted overalls.
