Lisbon Fashion Week is a fast-growing selection of young, brillant designers that will soon be known worldwide. One of them, Nuno Gama, showed a particularly unique collection for the Autumn/Winter 2015-16 season.
Clearly inspired by a renaissance, golden age Europe, his designs represent the strength of young knights and mediveal kings, all while giving off a modern vibe.
Note the voluminous shoulders, hats, and hoods, and even the man-tights, but all somehow done in a cooler, more futuristic way. The addition of current trends, like white sneakers and fur collars bring the collection upfront and into the present. The ever present turtleneck trend was excitedly included in the line with various takes, a cowl-neck, knitwear, and the traditional high-neck.
The Nuno Gama logo, a round gold shape, reminds of Galileo, of sailing the seas, and of a whole other era. While I am not sure a modern man would wear the whole outfit, specific garments of Nuno Gama could easily be worked into many different types of outfits, adding style and suave to a confident man’s look. The suits are especially dapper, and would also look phenomenal even without the tights they were paired with on the runway.
